Acknowledgement of Country

Step Stampede acknowledge the Djabugay People as the true custodians of the land on which we live, learn, and dance. Their cultures, knowledge, and care have nurtured this place for tens of thousands of years, and we recognise that dance has always been a living, powerful part of culture that continues to shape this place and the world of dance today. We honour the presence of their ancestors, pay our respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and other First peoples who visit our spaces and dance with us.

As part of our commitment to a more just and equitable future, we strive to work in genuine partnership with First peoples in our community. We celebrate and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through dance by crediting and platforming Indigenous artists and learn respectfully. We are committed to increasing access and creating opportunities that uplift First peoples, ensuring our community remains inclusive and welcoming.

We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded — this always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
